Ulriksmasten is the telecommunications mast crowning Mount Ulriken, the highest of Bergen’s seven mountains at 643 metres. Rising beside the upper cable-car station, it forms a sharp vertical landmark above the city and is visible from many districts below. Around the mast, exposed rock and low mountain vegetation frame broad views across central Bergen, Byfjorden, neighboring peaks and, in clear conditions, the island-dotted coast. Its geometric structure contrasts strongly with the rugged plateau, while mist, low cloud and rapidly shifting light can transform it from a distant skyline marker into an atmospheric summit subject.
