Ulica Vladimira Švalbe is a narrow street on the northern side of Rovinj’s old-town peninsula, close to Valdibora harbour. It belongs to the dense historic core of a town that was once an island, later connected to the mainland. Centuries of Venetian rule shaped Rovinj’s architecture, visible here in closely packed houses, stone doorways and shuttered windows. Weathered plaster and pale stone paving give the street a textured, lived-in character. Its enclosed perspectives contrast with glimpses of the sea through gaps and passages between waterfront buildings, revealing how tightly the old town is bound to the Adriatic.
