Tyne Bridge
📍 From Sandhill, United Kingdom
The Tyne Bridge is a spectacular road bridge linking east Newcastle to west Gateshead over the River Tyne in the United Kingdom. It was opened in October 1928, making it the oldest such structure in the country.

At first glance, you'll be taken away by the size and grandeur of the bridge. Its two stone-clad arches flank a central 114-meter steel-trussed span with a reinforced concrete deck that's used to carry two carriageways of traffic across the river. The bridge has a total of eight traffic lanes and can carry up to 3,000 tons of weight. You can take a walk or cycle along the pedestrian walkway that runs along the top of the bridge. From there you'll get an even better view of the bridge and the River Tyne. From this vantage point, you can spot historic landmarks, such as the Millennium Bridge, Quayside, The Sage, and St. James' Park. To commemorate the building of the bridge, a magnificent sculpture was created, representing the bolts used in the bridge's construction. Found opposite the Newcastle end of the bridge, it is a popular spot for photography. If you have a chance, stop by and capture the unique experience of the Tyne Bridge.
