Twenty Mule Team Canyon
📍 From Death Valley, United States
Twenty Mule Team Canyon is a dramatic, steep-walled canyon in the Furnace Creek area of Death Valley National Park, United States. It was the site of an outdoor film set for several movies, including How the West Was Won. The half-mile long canyon is easily accessible and visitors can view walls sculptured by the ancient waters of the Amargosa River. The surface is composed of colorful mudstone and conglomerate, striped with swirls of gold, pink, black and white. There are several short nature trails which wind around in the canyon and meander out of the canyon looping through various washes and sandy canyons. Be sure to enjoy the remarkable views of the canyon walls, and watch out for free-roaming bighorn sheep.
