Turning Torso
📍 From Varvsparken, Sweden
Turning Torso, a skyscraper in Malmö's Western Harbour, Sweden, is a marvel for photo-travelers. Designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, it spirals a full 90 degrees from base to top. At 190 meters, it's Sweden's tallest building and a pinnacle of architectural innovation, inspired by a twisting human form. Capturing its dynamic design requires strategic positioning; try photographing from Ribersborg Beach at sunset for dramatic contrasts, or from the base looking up to emphasize its twist against the sky. Spring and summer offer the best natural lighting. Note that the building is primarily residential, so access inside for photography is limited. Nearby, Western Harbour itself is replete with modern architecture and sustainable living concepts, presenting ample photographic opportunities against the backdrop of the Öresund strait.
