Turgutreis Lighthouse is one of the most iconic landmarks of the Bodrum peninsula in Turkey. Built in the late 19th century, it is the beautiful white-stone structure that stands tall on the shore of Turgutreis, a beautiful seaside town.
At 26 metres in height, the lighthouse stands over the coastline of the region and has become a popular tourist attraction. It is said to be named after the local hero, Turgutreis, and it has remained intact for over one hundred years. To get to the lighthouse, one needs to make the short drive from Bodrum town to Turgutreis. From the beach approach the lighthouse and you will find it in the centre of the town facing the Aegean Sea. During night time, the lighthouse lights up and looks amazing. Whether it is a romantic stroll or family outing, this is definitely worth a visit.
