The Tumba de Cristobol Colon (or the Tomb of Christopher Columbus) is a grand monument located in the Seville's Cathedral of Saint Mary, Spain. It is both a mausoleum and a monument, which was created by the Spanish sculptor Arturo Melida in 1892. Built from bronze, the monument is about 20 meters high, and it consists of a central sarcophagus representing the four continents over which Columbus explored: Europe, America, Africa, and Asia. The monument also is home to several statues of the kings and queens who supported Columbus during his travels and discoveries. The monument has been declared a National Historical Monument, which speaks to its importance in Spanish history. It is a must visit for anyone going to Seville, as it provides a great glimpse into the fascinating history of the city.
