Tucker House Museum occupies an 18th-century merchant’s residence on Water Street in the historic centre of St. George’s. Once associated with the influential Tucker family, the house interprets Bermuda’s colonial domestic life through period rooms, portraits, silver, china, and locally crafted Bermuda cedar furniture. Its compact proportions, whitewashed masonry, dark shutters, and street-level entrance reflect the architecture of the island’s early townscape. Indoors, the restrained rooms and richly grained cedar details offer an intimate contrast to the bright façades and narrow lanes outside, while exhibits also connect the property with Joseph Rainey, who lived in Bermuda before becoming the first Black member of the United States House of Representatives.
