📍 United States
The Trona Pinnacles are a collection of mostly tufa-formed structures in the Searles Dry Lake basin of California, in the United States. The formations are composed of tufa spires, which are tall thin spires of calcium carbonate, deposited from spring-fed streams. The pinnacles are spread over an area of 23 square miles, with some formations as high as 140 feet. The area is accessible from State Route 178, via the Trona-Wildhorse Road, leading to the Pinnacle Area. Visitors are able to drive around the formations and get close the some of the geological features. The landscape is dotted with unique geological features, such as white shallow beach between the pinnacles and a man-made lake. The area provides plenty of excellent scenery and attracts photographers from all around the world.
