Trinity Church is a historic Episcopal church located in the heart of Copley Square in Boston, Massachusetts. It is part of the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts and is the oldest Roman-Catholic church in the United States. The church, originally built in 1872, is renowned for its Gothic Revival architecture. Its white clapboards, pointed Gothic-style windows, and high spire have made Trinity Church one of the most recognizable churches in the city. Inside, the church features a soaring nave, intricate stained-glass windows, and distinctive Romanesque Revival-style arcades and arches. Trinity Church is particularly noteworthy for its extensive collection of art, some of which dates back to the 19th century. Highlights of the collection include a portrait of King George III; an 1877 mural depicting famous British prime ministers; and an elaborate marble altar, donated in 1876. Visitors can take a special guided tour of the church to learn more about the history, art, and architecture.
