Transfiguration Church's Monument

Transfiguration Church's Monument, or Uspenskiye Skity, in Radonezh, Russia, is one of the most important sites in Russian Orthodox pilgrimage. This remarkable structure is composed of five churches, two of which are connected by a single corridor. The churches are dedicated to the Nativity of Christ and Transfiguration of Jesus on the Mountain. The complex also includes four chapels, an ancient cemetery and a bell-tower, a chapel of blessed Matrona and other facilities. The main church of the complex, dedicated to the Transfiguration of Jesus on the Mountain, is a magnificent baroque-style church with a tented roof, a tall bell-tower and a double-storey belfry. The interior of the main church is decorated with frescoes in the traditional Russian style and old icons of the saints. The complex is surrounded by a beautiful park with decorated paths and numerous trees. The atmosphere within the complex is very special and all pilgrims are sure to feel its spiritual energy.
