Tour T1 is a 185-metre office skyscraper in Courbevoie’s Faubourg de l’Arche neighborhood, on the northern side of La Défense, the business district west of central Paris. Completed in 2008 and designed by the French architecture practice Valode & Pistre, it stands out for a glass envelope shaped like a folded sail rather than a conventional rectangular tower. Its curved profile and sloping upper edge give it a distinctive silhouette among the surrounding high-rises. Reflections of sky and neighboring buildings emphasize the folds in its façade, while views from the pedestrian spaces below reveal the contrast between its sweeping outline and the regular grid of its glazing.
