Torreón de Vista Alegre is a viewing tower located in the town of Zarautz in Gipuzkoa province, Basque Country, Spain. It is more than 200 years old and was built by the local council of Zarautz as a navigational aid for sailors to observe shipping movements at the nearby port. Today it is a tourist attraction, where visitors can enjoy stunning views of the Basque Country's lush coastline. The tower stands on the top of a hill, surrounded by a 32-hectare forest with rare species of plants and animals, including wild boars, roe deer and foxes. Its view over the sea, its rocks and its undeniable beautify is a must-see. Water sports such as kayaking, diving and surfing are popular activities in this area. The Torreón is open all year round and free of charge.
