📍 From Via Campo Marzio, Italy
Torre di San Prospero is an incredible, 15th century stone tower located in Reggio Emilia, Italy, just five kilometers from the city center. It was built in 1494 and is the only remaining tower from a line of seven defense towers that once protected the northern area of the city’s walls. At almost twenty-seven meters tall, it’s an impressive and iconic sight. The bygone function of Torre di San Prospero is remembered in its imposing structure and picturesque location. It stands proud on the banks of the Enza River, surrounded by fields of wheat and barley. From the tower’s terrace, visitors are rewarded with stunning views in all directions, taking in the lush countryside and the countryside’s bright red brick buildings. Visitors can take a walk around the tower to visit its many towers, explore the cobbled pathways, and admire its fascinating details, such as its variety of rare plants, and its stone walled gateway.
