Torre di Pulcinella is one of Montepulciano’s characteristic medieval towers, rising from the compact, stone-built core of this Tuscan hill town. It belongs to the cluster of civic and private towers that define Montepulciano’s historic silhouette and speaks to the town’s medieval urban fabric rather than to a single landmark monument. Visually it offers a strong vertical element against the rounded horizon of Val d’Orcia and the surrounding vineyards; its weathered masonry, narrow windows and roofline make a tight, textural subject when framed from the adjacent streets or the lower piazza. Photographs benefit from including nearby rooftops and cypress-dotted slopes to show scale and context; at street level, the tower’s proportions and the play of light on stone create compositionally simple, high-contrast images that emphasize age and material.
