Torre dell'Orso is a seaside village on Italy’s Adriatic coast in Puglia, named for the coastal watchtower that punctuates the shoreline and for its wide sandy bay. The scene is defined by a shallow, crescent beach framed by low limestone cliffs and a backing stand of Mediterranean pine, with two isolated limestone stacks offshore known locally as the "Two Sisters" that serve as the bay’s unmistakable focal point. Visually interesting for contrasts of warm sand, pale rock and clear turquoise water, the stacks create near-symmetrical compositions from the central beach while wet sand and tide pools offer reflective foregrounds. The open eastern exposure means the sea and stacks are strongly lit from the direction of sunrise, which accentuates texture on the cliffs and stacks and can produce long, low-angle reflections on the shore.
