The Torre della Tonnara di Mondello is a famous ancient tower located in Mondello, a seaside district of Palermo, Italy. Perfectly situated right on the beach and near the sea, the tower was built in the 16th century, and was most likely used to control the fishing activities of locals, who developed the characteristic techniques of tuna fishing still used in the nearby lagoon. A majestic and evocative sight, the tower is a popular destination for photographers and travelers, offering a breathtaking view over the Mediterranean. From its top, the orange-tiled roofs of the nearby buildings, the turquoise waters of the sea, and the sunset over the horizon can be admired.
