📍 Spain
Torre del Oro is a famous landmark in Seville, Spain, situated on the banks of the Guadalquivir river. The tower was built in the 13th century to defend the city against the reconquering Christian armies. It is an octagonal structure with three floors and 11 semicircular battlements. Originally it was topped by a golden dome, hence its name (“Tower of Gold”). The museum of Naval History is now located inside the tower. During the day, it provides a great view of this beautiful river and the city of Seville. At night the tower is lit up and is a popular destination for a romantic stroll.
