The Torre degli Asinelli is a splendid medieval structure that dates all the way back to the 11th century. It is one of the two main towers of Bologna that was initially built for military defense. The tower is 97.2 meters tall, making it the tallest leaning structure in Italy, and the third highest in Europe. Despite its leaning nature, the tower stands tall, and is still a symbol of the city. Today, the Torre degli Asinelli serves as a museum, offering wonderful views over the rooftops of Bologna.
