Torre Alfonsina is a coastal watchtower on the rocky shore near Otranto, part of the long line of warning towers that punctuate the Apulian Adriatic coast. Its weathered stone silhouette and compact form read as a utilitarian marker of maritime history: a place constructed to observe the sea and relay warnings about approaching ships. Photographically it offers strong contrasts — rough limestone against vivid Adriatic blue, crisp horizon lines and the interplay of shadow across the tower’s facades late and early in the day. Low tide reveals textured rock platforms that frame the tower in foreground composition; passing fishermen and small boats help convey scale and the site’s continuing relationship to the sea. Respect for any signage or restricted areas applies at many such coastal ruins.
