📍 France
Toit de la basilique de Fourviere is a stunning destination in the heart of Lyon, France. Located in the picturesque hilltop neighborhood of Fourvière, this domed hilltop basilica is one of the most impressive landmarks in the city. It was built between 1879 and 1884 as a gesture of gratitude to the Virgin Mary for the protection of Lyon during the Prussian siege of 1870-1871. Its towering golden dome, intricate mosaics, and exquisitely carved sculptures make it a photographers dream. The basilica is free and open to visitors during normal business hours, with a museum featuring works of art from around Europe, and small galleries showcasing stained glass and sculptures. There are also several terraces that offer stunning views across the city. Though photography is not allowed inside the basilica, visitors can take photos of the stained glass windows and exterior from the outside. Whether you're a photographer or a visitor, Toit de la basilique de Fourviere is well worth a visit.
