📍 From Paro Taktsang, Bhutan
Tiger's Nest or Paro Taktsang is a sacred Buddhist monastery situated in the cliffside of Paro, Bhutan. It is believed that Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava), the 8th-century Indian spiritual master, flew to this spot on the back of a tiger, hence the name Tiger's Nest. The monastery is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the most revered places in Bhutan. The hike to reach Tiger's Nest can be challenging and takes around 2-3 hours, but the breathtaking views and the spiritual experience make it worth it. It is recommended to start the hike early in the morning to avoid crowds and to wear comfortable shoes as the trail can be steep and rocky. Make sure to respect the monastery's rules and customs, such as removing shoes before entering and not taking pictures inside the complex. Also, take some time to explore the surrounding area, which offers stunning views of the Himalayas.
