Thingvellir National Park (also known as Þingvellir in Icelandic) is an incredible geological wonder located in the southwest of Iceland. Its unique landscape of lava fields, fissures, gorges, lakes, and waterfalls is a World Heritage Site, due to its place in the history of Iceland's parliament, the Althing, and its spectacular nature. It is a paradise for hikers, with numerous trails leading to the most breathtaking spots, as well as scuba divers who can explore its depths. There is also great opportunities for wildlife spotting with countless varieties of birds, fish, and Arctic foxes. The Öxaráfoss waterfall, located in one of the many fissures, is an awe-inspiring sight. Despite its geothermal activity, Thingvellir still has some of the clearest, drinkable spring water in the world!
