The Wanaka Tree
📍 New Zealand
The Wanaka Tree, a solitary tree in Lake Wānaka on the South Island of New Zealand, is a popular photo spot and a recognisable symbol of the South Island. This dead willow stands standing in the middle of the lake, amidst the ever-changing blues, greens, blues and purples of surrounding nature. The tree is accessible to the public by boat, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking or walking around the lake edge. Access to the lake edge by car can be found at the end of Ardmore Street, right next to the tree. The Wanaka Tree is a unique photo opportunity for those who visit Wānaka and is certainly worth a visit whether you have a camera or not.
