The Reclining Buddha is a giant golden statue located in Khwaeng Phra Borom Maha Ratchawang, Thailand. It is more than 46 metres long and 15 metres high and is the largest Reclining Buddha in the world. This spectacular sight is located in the grounds of the prominent Wat Pho temple, one of Bangkok's most important and oldest Buddhist temples. The Buddha lies facing east with his right hand supporting his head, his left hand resting on a stack of lotus leaves and coils of hair gracefully covering his chest. The sculpture is made of brick covered with golden paint and decorated with coloured glass. The Reclining Buddha is a popular attraction and the grounds are open to the public daily, with no admission fee. There are several other interesting statues and relics around the temple, such as the 9-tier Buddha footprint, so make sure to take your time exploring the area.
