The Powder Tower, also known as the "Prašná brána", is one of the most important historical monuments in the Czech Republic. It is found in Prague's Staré Město (Old Town) district, and serves as an important landmark. It was built in the late 14th century, and is 65 meters (213 feet) high. The first use of the tower was as a gunpowder storage, hence the current name. Later on, it has served various purposes such as a theatre, an observatory and as a weather station at times. The Powder Tower is a Gothic style monument, with a high central spire, flanked by four lower towers.

The entrance to the tower is on the southern side of the building, and offers a majestic view of the city's skyline. There are a few objects of art found inside the tower, with the largest one being a wooden sculpture of St.John the Baptist. The Powder Tower is the entrance to Prague's Royal Roads, and is an essential part of the Czech republic's architecture and culture. It is a popular tourist attraction and is open for visits most days of the week.
