The Pinnacles in Waikato, New Zealand, offer a unique landscape of incredible rock formations standing alone in an otherwise flat field. Located in Te Paki Recreation Reserve, they create the awe-inspiring vistas of an otherworldly place. The site was created by enormous dunes of sand blowing inland and then being petrified into the boulder formations we see today. While this is a popular hiking area, it is also great for birdwatchers to spot kiwi, a rare flightless bird. The otherworldly landscape of the Pinnacles is a must-see for any traveler visiting the area!
