The Oculus Station is an architectural gem located at the World Trade Center Transportation Hub in New York City. It is a modern transportation hub that is composed of a massive Oculus structure, symbolic of a dove's wings spanning a central light-filled atrium. It serves as the hub for PATH trains connecting Manhattan to New Jersey, as well as for several subway lines and ferries. Architect Santiago Calatrava designed The Oculus Station with an impressive array of curved glass and metal, which makes it a great subject for photographers wanting to capture unique angles. Some of its highlights include the ‘Oculus Angel’, a metallic sculpture in the station’s grand hall, as well as its skylights that shape the movement of light in the station during the day. As a major transportation hub, it can often get very busy during rush hours; so the best way to capture ‘the Oculus in action’ is by visiting during quieter times.
