The LaBranche House in New Orleans, United States is an interesting example of 19th century middle-class Creole architecture. It was built in 1824 by a free person of color, and has remained in the LaBranche family for over 150 years. Since 1966, it has been under the care of the Norfolk Southern Railroad and is now a destination for visitors from all over the world. The home is made up of two main galleries, connected by a wide veranda, and boasts a number of outbuildings, including a kitchen, cistern, warehouse, and carriage house.
