The Hive
📍 From Inside, United Kingdom
The Hive is an iconic office building in Greater London, United Kingdom. It was designed by architect, Pritkzer Prize-winner and critic Richard Rogers. The 35-story tower comprises two distinct structures: the base, comprising a row of seven interconnected office blocks, and the tower, a rhomboid structure set on the south-west side of the base. The building is an example of Rogers’ penchant for “tracks and bridges”, as the tower and base structures are connected by means of an elevated pedestrian walkway. The building’s white-coloured façade, featuring a multi-layered mesh of curved glass panels and clad in white terracotta, gives The Hive a unique and unmistakable presence. Its design allows plenty of natural light to enter the interior spaces, while the terracotta adds texture and a vibrant colour palette to the building’s façade.
