The Eglinton Grand is an Art Deco event venue on Eglinton Avenue West in midtown Toronto, housed in the former Eglinton Theatre. Opened as a cinema in 1936, the building reflects the glamour of the city’s movie-palace era and retains a strong period identity through its streamlined façade, prominent vertical sign, marquee, sweeping staircases, decorative plasterwork and polished interior finishes. From the street, the illuminated signage provides its most recognizable composition, while inside, repeated curves, geometric details and symmetrical spaces evoke interwar cinema design. The building now hosts weddings and private functions rather than operating as a regular movie theatre or museum, so interior access is generally connected to scheduled events.
