The Claude Martin Museum is housed in Constantia, the landmark building of La Martiniere College in Lucknow. It preserves objects connected to Martin, a French-born soldier who commissioned the building and endowed the college. Constantia is part of the story: its statuary, ornate façade and tall central tower give it a strikingly European silhouette in the city. Martin is buried beneath the building, linking the museum’s collection to the place where he chose to be remembered.
