The entrance to Jaipur’s City Palace opens into the royal complex at the heart of the walled Pink City, close to Jantar Mantar. Begun in the 18th century under Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the palace combines Rajput planning and ornament with Mughal-influenced arches and courtyards. Its gateway creates a formal transition from Jaipur’s busy streets to a sequence of ceremonial spaces, museums, and areas still associated with the former royal family. Painted surfaces, carved doors, repeated arches, and strong symmetry give the entrance its visual character, while the warm pink and ochre palette links it to the surrounding historic city. Framing the arch head-on emphasizes its geometry; including visitors beneath it conveys the monumental scale.
