The Castle Museum in Klaipėda, Lithuania, is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the city. The 300-year-old castle, located on the banks of the Danė River, was once a defensive fortress designed to protect the city from invasion. Today, the Castle Museum houses a wide selection of artifacts tracing the history of Klaipėda and its surrounding areas, from the early Middle Ages up to the present. Among the museum’s exhibits are archaeological finds, weapons, paintings, sculptures, clothing and everyday objects. The museum’s historic courtyard and ramparts provide a picturesque setting for visitors. And it is possible to take a boat tour from the museum’s dock through the winding canals of the old port.
