
The Byodo-In Temple is a beautiful Buddhist temple located in Kaneohe, Hawaii. It was built in 1968 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants to Hawaii. The temple is made of redwood and stands in the shape of a Lotus flower - symbolizing harmony within the universe. Inside, a statue of the Vairocana Buddha sits in the middle of the temple structure and is flanked by one thousand statues of smaller Buddha figures. Visitors to the Byodo-In Temple will be able to find a number of interesting features, such as a reflecting pond, Japanese gardens, wooden walkways, and more. As a symbol of peace, the temple is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in Hawaii. Visitors will enjoy the tranquility and serenity of the sacred temple grounds.
