📍 Poland
The Archcathedral Basilica of St. Peter & St. Paul is a must-see in Poznań, Poland! It’s located in the city centre, right next to the Old Market Square. This Baroque-style church is one of Poland's most important religious and historical landmarks, with its construction beginning in the 16th century and finishing in the 18th century. Inside, the main highlight is the Opuszyński chapel which features 42 detailed sculptures of saints, sculptures of the 12 apostles, paintings of various religious figures and, most importantly, the “Royal bell” – the biggest one in Poland. The basilica also houses a museum, where visitors can learn about its history and admire its beautiful artifacts and architectural elements. There is also a chapel with traditional shrines and other exhibits. Not to be missed are the early-Gothic cloisters, the Romanesque chapel of St. Mary and the Baroque chapel of St. John the Baptist. Photography is allowed, but it’s best to be respectful and ask the priests for permission first.
