Texel Lighthouse is a beautiful, 19th century landmark on the island of Texel in the North Sea of the Netherlands. It was first lit in 1864 to guide sailors and has since become a popular tourist attraction. Built on a small island, De Cocksdorp, it stands 97-feet tall and is completely surrounded by the sea. Tourists can get to the lighthouse by booking a short boat trip from Den Helder, spending 45 minutes to appreciate the scenery from the comfort of the boat. At the lighthouse, visitors can climb the tower for spectacular views of the North Sea and the landscapes of the Frisian Islands. The lighthouse often has guided tours that allow people to learn the fascinating history and navigate the underground maze. The island is also home to many species of birds, which can be observed from nearby platforms. There is a small shop at the foot of the tower and the occasional art exhibition. The lighthouse is a spectacular sight that should not be missed.
