Tétouan is a former imperial city in northern Morocco, only a few miles away from the Mediterranean Sea. It's a historical and cultural center of the region, famous for its unique architecture and culture. Tourists often come here to explore the Medina – the old town, whose narrow, winding alleys house shops, restaurants and traditional markets. Stroll along the main boulevard, lined with trees and flowers, to get a wonderful overview of the city. Visit the fascinating Grand Socco, the central square where locals gather to catch up and chat, or the nearby Espagnol Square lined with historical buildings, most of them painted in different shades of blue. Visit also the old medina with its beautiful and well-preserved houses and gardens, or choose from a variety of other attractions including the ancient Talmuda synagogue, Tétouan Museum, archaeological site and Roman baths. There's also plenty to do in the night including restaurants, cafés and an after-dark medina with markets and entertainment. Don't forget to take in the breathtaking views of the city from Bab el Baha viewpoint.
