📍 China
The Terra-Cotta Warriors Museum, located near Xi'an, showcases an astonishing collection of life-sized clay soldiers, chariots, and horses buried with China's first Emperor, Qin Shi Huang, to protect him in the afterlife. Discovered in 1974 by local farmers, this archaeological marvel consists of three main pits, each displaying an army in battle formation. Photography inside can be challenging due to low light and crowds, but the scale and detail of the figures are captivating. For the best shots, visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid peak times. Don’t miss Pit 1, the largest and most impressive, with rows of warriors still standing guard. While tripods are generally not permitted, a good lens and steady hand can capture the eerie lifelike expressions and intricate details of the soldiers. The museum also offers an exhibition hall where you can see bronze chariots and learn more about the site's history and preservation.
