📍 Mexico
The Templo de San Antonio de Padua in Aguascalientes, Mexico is an impressive example of baroque architecture. Built in 1792, it was reconstructed in the early 19th century following an earthquake. The building is full of intricately carved stone and marble details. The highlights include a marble altarpiece with figures of saints, a large dome, and several caryatids. The façade is decorated with rich molded stucco elements, with the main highlight being a set of four angels playing musical instruments. Inside, an impressive altar is flanked by two spiral staircases. The church itself is surrounded by courtyards and other structures, making it a full architectural site that should not be missed when visiting Aguascalientes.
