Teatro Marittimo is a unique archaeological site in Tivoli, Italy, located near the Temple of Vesta. The site was once the location of an ancient Roman amphitheatre, constructed during the reign of Emperor Hadrian in the 1st Century. Although the original structure was destroyed in 1798, the foundations, walls and seating area are still in place today, providing a fascinating insight into what once stood on the hill above Tivoli. It remains an important feature in the local landscape, providing panoramic views of the surrounding area. Visitors can take a guided tour of the site, explore the remaining walls, view displays relating to the history of the theatre and take part in silent performances. For photographers, the amphitheatre is the perfect backdrop for capturing stunning photos of the local scenery and its preserved facade.
