Teatro GReco
📍 From Inside, Italy
The Teatro GReco, or Greek Theatre, in Siracusa, Italy is an ancient site dating back to the 5th century BCE. It was built by the tyrant of Syracuse, Dionysius I. The Teatro GReco sits at the foot of an imposing limestone cliff, a sight best taken in from the highest section of the theater’s seating. Despite its age, you can still make out the remaining three tiers of the stands. The theater was built at the same time as the Teatro Greco di Taormina, on the other side of Sicily, and its construction demonstrates the power and wealth of Syracuse in ancient times. The theatre is used today for concerts and other cultural events, a great way to get a taste of the ancient world through a modern performance.
