Established in 1838 as part of the Republic of Texas, the court is a major democratic institution with an elected county judge that leads its operations. It handles a wide range of civil, criminal and family court matters, including civil, criminal and family law cases. At the court, visitors can get a glimpse of justice being served in a county of diversity and justice. The civil court has jurisdiction over the jurisdiction of 60 Texas counties, and the criminal court has jurisdiction over crimes committed in Tarrant County. In addition to being open for business, the court often provides educational seminars, awareness classes and other public events. There is plenty of free parking available at the court.
