Taman Larangan Kesultanan Melaka
📍 Malaysia
Taman Larangan Kesultanan Melaka is a landscaped garden beside the Melaka Sultanate Palace Museum in Bandar Hilir, at the foot of St Paul’s Hill. Its name, meaning “Forbidden Garden,” recalls the private outdoor spaces reserved for the sultan’s household. The adjoining museum is a modern reconstruction of a traditional Malay palace, not a surviving royal residence, and the garden extends its presentation of Melaka’s courtly past into the surrounding landscape. Planted beds, lawns and paths provide a foreground to the palace’s long timber façade and layered roofline, giving photographs a contrast between tropical greenery and the distinctive forms of Malay wooden architecture.
