Tal-Mixta Cave
📍 Malta
Tal-Mixta Cave lies at the outskirts of Nadur, Malta. The cave is believed to be of great historical and geological importance, and dates back to the early history of the island. It is said to have been built by the Knights of St John, using the same technique they used to build the fortifications of Valletta. Inside the cave are numerous stalactites, stalagmites and other natural formations. The cave was discovered in the 19th century and has since been studied by geologists and archaeologists alike. It has been said that the cave was once used as a shelter by the islanders during times of hardship. The cave is open to visitors and has various steep and narrow pathways to explore. Make sure to bring a flash light! Though Tal-Mixta Cave may not be as impressive as some of Malta’s more popular tourist attractions, it is nonetheless still worth exploring.
