Taj Mahal
📍 From Munghal Garden, India
Taj Mahal is one of the most iconic monuments in India and is considered one of the world's most beautiful buildings. It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan as a mausoleum for his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal, in the 17th century. The pink and white marble edifice stands out against the lush countryside that surrounds it and is one of the most photographed sites in the world. Just a few hundred metres away lies the sprawling 27 hectare complex of the Mughal gardens which is home to the ancient waterscapes, pathways and pavilions of the Taj Mahal complex and serves as a reminder of the Mughal empire’s engineering prowess. Tourists can enjoy the soothing water channels and admire the historical art and architecture from the numerous pavilions that dot the gardens. Both attractions offer a rich insight into Mughal culture and are unmissable sites when in Agra.
