📍 From Inside, Nepal
The Swoyambhunath Stupa is a large Buddhist temple complex located in the Kathmandu Valley of Nepal. Located at an altitude of 1344 feet above sea-level, Swoyambhunath is one of the oldest religious sites in Nepal, dating back several centuries. Composed of prayer wheels, shrines and stupas, Swoyambhunath is a sight to behold. Arriving at the stupa, one has to climb a steep limestone staircase with 365 steps to reach the top. From the top, the entire Kathmandu Valley can be seen, along with the nearby Boudhanath Stupa. The stupa is adorned with colorful prayer flags, private shrines and is believed to have been founded by the great sage Manjushri. Swoyambhunath is worth a visit for its unique culture, peace-loving atmosphere and breathtaking views.
