Svyato-Mikhaylovskaya Church, dedicated to the Archangel Michael, stands near the center of Chernyakhovsk, the former East Prussian town of Insterburg. Built in the late 19th century as a Protestant church and later adapted for Russian Orthodox worship, it reflects the layered religious and political history of the Kaliningrad region. Its red-brick historicist exterior, tall tower, steep roofs, and rows of arched windows retain a distinctly Prussian character, while Orthodox crosses and the present interior reveal its newer role. The strongest photographs emphasize the contrast between the dark brickwork, pale decorative details, and the tower rising above the surrounding streets.
