Svaneke Røgeri is a traditional smokehouse and seafood restaurant on the rocky Baltic shoreline beside Svaneke’s harbor on Bornholm. It represents the island’s long association with smoked herring, once central to Bornholm’s fishing communities and still a defining local specialty. The low, whitewashed building and its distinctive smokehouse chimneys form a recognizable coastal silhouette, especially when viewed against the red roofs of town and the open sea. Weathered rock, fishing boats and pale Nordic light add strong textures and maritime context, while smoke rising from the chimneys can give the scene a tangible sense of the craft still practiced here.
