Sunda Kelapa Harbor is one of the main ports of Jakarta, Indonesia. It was built by the Portuguese in the 16th century and is the oldest port in the city. It is home to a large number of traditional Phinisi schooners, which are still used for transportation in some parts of Indonesia. While these boats are often painted in vibrant colors and unique designs, those at Sunda Kelapa Harbor are kept in their original condition. As you explore the harbor, you'll come across quaint wooden jetties and brightly colored warehouses selling a variety of goods. The harbor is also great for people watching, as fishermen come and go with their catch as well as larger ships taking off and unloading their cargo. The views from the harbor are spectacular, especially at sunset. Despite being a working port, the area is surprisingly tranquil and can be a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.
